In October 2020, Apple launched a repair service program, saying that a small number of AirPods Pros could have sound problems.
At the time, it was "two years from the first retail sale for the target AirPods Pro," but the support document was quietly revised and extended to "three years from the first retail sale." As pointed out on the overseas bulletin board Reddit, the revised part is "Additional Informaiton. As of September 2021," The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 2 years (covered by this program). The AirPods Pro will be sold for 2 years), but as of October 14, it has been changed to 3 years. Similar changes have been confirmed in the Japanese version.
This problem is also related to the active noise canceling function, and it seems that it will be improved by a software update, but it is also presumed that it was a defect rooted in more hardware. Also, since the deadline has been extended by one year, it may be related to aging deterioration. It is stated that AirPods Pro covered by this program may have the following symptoms (or both):
Please note that the applicable AirPods Pro is limited to those manufactured before October 2020. If you have an AirPods Pro with a problem, you can bring it to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for free repair service.
Also, before receiving repair service, AirPods Pro will be inspected on the actual machine to see if it is covered by the program. As a result, the AirPods Pro (either left or right or both) that is determined to be eligible will be repaired (that is, replaced). This program applies only to AirPods Pro, not AirPods or AirPods Max. Also, the charging case is not covered by this program and cannot be replaced. Source: Apple
