"Apple Watch Series 7" released on October 15th. This time, I had the opportunity to touch the actual machine, so I would like to deliver an impression after trying it out. [See all photos including screen display examples and details]
New green case
"Green" aluminum case
Apple products these days are colorful, aren't they? Like the Apple Watch Series 7, there are a variety of case finishes available. If you check the official website, it seems that there are 10 colors of "Silver / Blue / Midnight / Starlight / Green / Gold / Graphite / Space Black / Titanium / (PRODUCT) RED". The one I tried this time was a "green" aluminum case (45mm model). It is a new color from Series 7. This case has a deep color that makes you think "that? It was black" when you look at it under fluorescent lights in the evening. However, when the light near the window or the LED light for shooting hit, I could see a bright green and said, "Oh, it's green, I'm sorry." What color is this exactly? It is a green that is hard to see. I feel that the traditional color "Korai Nando" is similar, but the real thing is a little deeper and has a glossy feel. It's completely different from the usual army green, so if you devise a dial and band, I think it's easy to match it with a relatively solid outfit such as a suit or kimono.
Check out the enlarged display
Compare the 45mm model of Series 7 (left) and the 44mm model of Series 4 (right). You can see the difference when using the full screen like the "Map" application screen.
The biggest change in Series 7 is still the larger screen. I haven't been dissatisfied with the display specifications since the "Series 4" with rounded corners on the display, but this time the "Apple Watch Series 7" has become even wider. It's about 20% wider than the Apple Watch SE, which is sold together, and more than 50% wider than the Series 3. If you compare the new model with the past model, the display area is completely different. I tried launching the map app, but I felt a difference more than I expected. Although the case size is almost the same, the impression that it is easier to see has been improved. The size of the case itself is 41mm or 45mm, which is +1mm larger than the conventional 40mm or 44mm variation. However, even if you look at the difference in appearance side by side with the old model, you will not notice it if the screen is off. Also, by making the bezel so thin, the crystal glass on the front is 50% thicker, and it is the first in the series to be certified for dustproof performance, so it is amazing that the robustness is rather improved. .. I got the impression that it has a high degree of perfection. It is also a point that there are three more options to make the font size larger than before. As for the dial that was added as the display became larger, I was concerned about the "contour" that is also used in official photographs. I tried it at once. It's fashionable that the index is composed of a design that breaks the numbers. The "always on display" design is also neat and cool, so it looks good for everyday use. When tapped, it moves with undulations and animation (By the way, if you rotate the Digital Crown around, you can adjust the position you like to bold while undulating). In addition, as a topic accompanying the increase in screen size, it is also noteworthy that English and Chinese also support character input with a software keyboard. However, unfortunately Japanese is not supported. Even with the new model, voice input remains the main input method. This is where I would like to expect future OS updates.
