How does offline iPhone tracking work?
Apple will now use the low-power U1 chip to keep tracking location even after the iPhone is turned off. This feature is enabled by default when you install iOS 15 on some iPhones (iPhone 11 and newer, including the latest iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro). The iPhones that can use this function are as follows. iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro MaxiPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro MaxiPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro MaxApple adds custom secure even when iPhone is turned off Run Low Energy Bluetooth chip via applet. The rest of the iPhone is completely turned off (including the always-on processor used for background tasks like Hey Siri requests). Another factor is Apple's Ultra Wide Band U1 chip. Like an AirTag, your iPhone will continue to send encrypted and secure beacons to surrounding Apple devices. And when someone walks by a powered-off iPhone, the iPhone picks up its beacons and securely transmits information using the Find My network.
