As the best buy of the year, I mentioned the "Galaxy S10". However, there is another item that I would strongly recommend. It is a smart watch "HUAWEI WATCH GT" made by Huawei.
However, there is some resistance to saying "best buy". Actually, I didn't buy it. I got it. When I work as a writer, I sometimes get a product as a souvenir for event coverage, or I get a "try it" and don't need to return it. The HUAWEI WATCH GT was given as a prize for a quiz tournament at an event. I started using it because it's free. However, when I tried using it, I really liked it and thought, "I will definitely buy it when the next model comes out!"
So, in November, a successor model called "HUAWEI WATCH GT2" was released, but in the end, I didn't buy it either. When I interviewed Huawei's new product launch held in Munich, Germany in October, I was given a "try it" and I am still using it. It is a normal evolution model that inherits the basic performance of HUAWEI WATCH GT as it is, and I also like it.
The longer you forget to charge the battery, the longer it will last
First, let me give you the reason why I like the HUAWEI WATCH GT / GT2.
1 Anyway, the battery has
2 It looks expensive, but it's cheap (although I'm not hungry)
3 Can be used like a regular wristwatch
I have used various smart watches before I met HUAWEI WATCH GT. I bought the first and fourth generation "Apple Watch". I also tried Samsung's "Gear Fit" wristband. There was a time when I wore ASUS "ZenWatch". Last year I used to use the "Fitbit Ionic" adidas model. I bought each one because I was attracted to it, but sometimes I inadvertently forgot to charge it and the battery ran out.
The selling point of HUAWEI WATCH GT / GT2 is continuous driving for up to about 2 weeks, but I really have it. There is no need to switch to power saving mode, and it will last for 2 weeks even if you keep it wrapped around your arm. Therefore, you can also check your sleep status.
When I was using my Apple Watch, I often forgot to charge it at bedtime and was disappointed to see the black screen the next day, or the battery ran out during training. The HUAWEI WATCH GT only needs to be charged twice a month, so I forget to charge it.
▲ Charge by placing it on a charging cradle with a magnet. I charge it once a week.I want the next model to support wireless charging.
Of course, when you get GPS information such as running or walking tracking, the battery drains faster. In that case, GT2 can be used continuously for about 30 hours, but the author does exercise like exercise 2-3 times a week for about 1 hour each, so it is a range that I hardly care about.
▲ Sports mode has a rich menu and can be started easily.
▲ You can check the walking and running records on your smartphone app.
Highly customizable is also an advantage
HUAWEI WATCH has a circular dial, buttons that imitate a crown, and is a royal design as a wristwatch. I think it's the design that you won't get tired of the most. The design of the smartwatch dial can be changed freely, but I think the advantage of the circular face is that it can display a design like an analog wristwatch.
▲ The circular shape makes it easy to use a wristwatch-like design. The right is the HUAWEI WATCH GT that I used before, and the left is the HUAWEI WATCH GT2 that I currently use (46mm model starts from 24,800 yen excluding tax).
▲ The two buttons on the right side are the buttons that call up the menu on the top and the buttons that can quickly activate the sports mode on the bottom. The display supports touch operation
▲ The dial design can also be set with the "Healthcare" app.You can download and add new designs
I use a model with a 46mm dial, but the belt is 22mm wide. The first HUAWEI WATCH GT I used had a stainless steel case, leather on the front, and a silicon belt on the back. It looks good, but it's easy for sweat to collect, and it made me feel uncomfortable when using it at a sports gym. So I bought a third party replacement belt from Amazon. 22mm is the standard specification for wristwatch belts, so there are many options. I bought a silicone belt for 1199 yen, which seems to have good breathability.
▲ The left is HUAWEI WATCH GT, and the right is HUAWEI WATCH GT2.With the genuine belt attached at the time of purchase
▲ The belt can be easily replaced.
▲ I replaced the leather belt of HUAWEI WATCH GT with a commercially available silicon belt. Transform into a sporty image!
The HUAWEI WATCH GT2, which I have been using since mid-October, has a case made of black stainless steel and a belt made of fluoroelastomer instead of silicon. It seems that this "fluoroelastomer" is also used in the belt of Apple Wacth, and it feels good to wear. I don't feel uncomfortable when playing sports, and I haven't tried it yet, but I would like to swim in the pool with it wrapped around my arm.
I am very satisfied just by using it as a wristwatch.
HUAWEI WATCH GT / GT2 has a full range of sports tracking functions, you can check the quality of your sleep, and of course you can also check the notifications on your smartphone. It also includes a barometer and compass, and you can play music with just your watch. However, I rarely use it. It's just wrapped around my arm. With that alone, the number of steps is counted and the data is stored in the "healthcare" app on your smartphone. When you receive the email, you can read a part of it.
▲ Equipped with a heart rate sensor on the back
▲ Exercise and sleep records are automatically synchronized with the "Healthcare" app on your HUAWEI smartphone. If you want to use another company's smartphone, you need to download the app.
▲ It can be set so that you can check the notification of the smartphone like a general smart watch.
▲ You can listen to music in cooperation with wireless earphones. I haven't used it, but ...
▲ Sleep tracking seems to be supervised by an expert, and the advice is convincing.
Sometimes I try to measure calorie consumption when I play sports, and sometimes I sleep with my arm on when I think I'm short of sleep, but only when I feel like it. There is no pressure to "master". When I was using the Apple Watch, I felt the pressure of having to complete three rings ...
I think the HUAWEI WATCH GT / GT2 is a smart watch that even people who are not serious about full-scale training and dieting can easily use. This is the first watch I have been using for a long time. When "HUAWEI WATCH GT3" is released, I'm thinking of buying it on my own.
